FDS - Industrial decontamination system

The continuous solution for industrial sites requiring unlimited capacity, maximum resistance, and redundant parameter control.

The Continuous FDS was designed for industrial environments with very high effluent volumes, aggressive chemical agents, and absolute reliability requirements. Based on all-welded tubular exchanger technology, it eliminates any risk of leakage or cross-contamination by design. Available in electric (Actijoul® technology) or steam (Actitube® Tube-in-Tube technology) versions, it covers flow rates from 250 to over 190,000 L/day with a remarkably compact footprint. Treatment parameters and decontamination levels are fully adjustable to the specific requirements of each site.

  • Treatment capacity: From 66 to over 92,500 gal/day (250 to over 192,000 L/day)
  • Recommended daily flow: Up to 16 hours/day
  • Effluent type: Aqueous (water-based)
  • Energy source: Electricity or steam, with integrated energy recovery system
  • Technology: All-welded continuous tubular exchanger

Why choose the FDS?

The FDS is intended for organizations whose effluent volumes exceed the capacity of standard systems and whose effluents exhibit aggressive chemical characteristics—such as high chloride content, oxidizing agents, or corrosive compounds. Its all-welded tubular design inherently removes any gaskets that could leak or become cross-contamination points. The choice of construction materials is tailored to the chemical nature of the treated effluents, including high-resistance alloys for chloride applications. Extremely compact for its capacity, less than 9 m² to treat 100,000 L/day, it fits into the most constrained technical spaces. Decontamination cycles are PLC-controlled, recorded, and paired with automatic self-disinfection cycles for effortless regulatory compliance.

All-welded tubular design: zero risk of leakage or cross-contamination

The entire treatment circuit of the FDS is constructed using fully welded tubes, with no mechanical gaskets on sections in contact with effluents. This design eliminates the two main causes of decontamination system failure: gasket leaks and cross-contamination between treated and untreated effluents. It guarantees containment integrity throughout the system’s lifespan without reliance on sealing consumables.

Construction materials tailored to effluent chemistry

The FDS is available with a choice of construction materials selected based on the chemical aggressiveness of the treated effluents. For applications involving high chloride levels or oxidizing agents, high-corrosion-resistance alloys are available. This customization ensures system longevity even in the most demanding chemical environments.

Two heating technologies: Actijoul® (electric) or Actitube® (steam)

The FDS is available in two technological versions depending on the site’s available utilities. The electric version relies on Actijoul® technology, allowing for precise and controlled heating without steam infrastructure. The steam version uses Actitube® (Tube-in-Tube) technology, optimizing heat exchange between the steam and effluents within a concentric tubular exchanger. Both versions integrate energy recovery systems to minimize utility consumption.

Redundant control of decontamination parameters

The FDS features redundant control of critical decontamination parameters: temperature, flow rate, and holding time. This redundancy ensures that an instrument failure does not compromise the validity of the treatment cycle or the safety of the discharge. Cycles are PLC-driven, automatically recorded, and paired with system self-disinfection cycles for complete traceability without manual intervention.

Ultra-compact footprint for very high industrial capacity

The Continuous FDS is designed to maximize treatment capacity per square metre of floor space. For example, the FDS-3000 model treats 100,000 L/day within less than 9 m². This exceptional compactness is made possible by concentric tubular exchanger technology, which optimizes heat exchange density per unit of volume, allowing for high industrial capacities to be installed in existing technical spaces without expansion work.

Fully adjustable treatment parameters and decontamination levels

Unlike fixed-program systems, the FDS allows for the adjustment of temperature, holding time, flow rate, and target decontamination levels to meet specific application requirements. This flexibility makes it compatible with a wide range of biosafety protocols and regulatory demands, from research labs to the most demanding industrial production units.
